Deputy PM eyes no hike in Russia’s grain exports over ruble’s fall
MOSCOW, Apr 13 (PRIME) -- Russia’s grain exports will not jump thanks to the current depreciation of the ruble, Deputy Prime Minister Arkady Dvorkovich told reporters on Friday.
When asked about whether the recent ruble depreciation may influence grain exports, he said, “We have included the rate of 64 (rubles per U.S. dollar) in our forecasts, if I remember correctly, and we based our export forecasts on that rate. So the right answer is no, I presume.”
“The other point is that prices for oil and other commodities are higher at the same time, so monetary terms of exports may change. It will be higher as prices are higher.”
In early March, Alexander Tkachyov said that Russia’s grain export potential may reach 50 million tonnes this year if the harvest is good.
